Tech-Talk:
Business and Innovation Opportunities
around the Einstein Telescope
Webinar on 24 March 2026 | 11:00–12:00 (CET) | Access link will be provided after registration
The Einstein Telescope (ET) is a planned European large-scale research infrastructure with exceptionally high technological demands. Its implementation requires a wide range of advanced technologies – opening up substantial innovation and market opportunities for small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs).
This webinar is designed to open up Einstein Telescope technologies to SMEs in the cross-border region of Belgium, Germany and the Netherlands and to directly link technological requirements with concrete funding and project opportunities.
Participants will gain insights into how two Interreg innovation initiatives – COMET and STIPP – systematically address key technology fields of the Einstein Telescope and enable SMEs to become actively involved in cross-border innovation projects. If you need further details on the funding frameworks before the webinar (they will also be discussed), please refer to the linked COMET and STIPP project websites (above).
Good to know: Both funding projects currently have open Calls for Proposals, so you can start right away with your idea or enquiry.
The Agenda
Enabling Technologies for the Einstein Telescope: An Overview Prof. Dr. Achim Stahl, RWTH Aachen University
COMET Overview: Region, Partners and Opportunity Areas Dr. Matthias Grosch, NMWP Management GmbH
STIPP Explained: How to Turn Ideas into Funded Projects Ralf Meyer, AGIT mbH
LUCET (STIPP): Translating Einstein Needs into Solutions Daan Vlekken, Netalux NV
Q&A-Session / Discussion
What to expect
In this webinar, SMEs will receive a structured and practice-oriented overview of:
- technology fields with clear industrial and market relevance linked to the Einstein Telescope,
- funding and support opportunities that reduce risk and enable SMEs to start or scale innovation projects in the context of STIPP and COMET,
- a concrete industrial best practice: the STIPP-funded project LUCET, which develops laser-based cleaning solutions for ultra-high-vacuum infrastructure with applications beyond the Einstein Telescope.
- market opportunities beyond the Einstein Telescope, as many of the required technologies are transferable to other high-tech and industrial applications.
By combining technological insight, ecosystem access and funding pathways, this webinar lowers entry barriers and enables SMEs to position themselves early in a highly dynamic European innovation environment.

The STIPP instrument focuses on stimulating cross-border SME collaborations providing business and innovation development support within the Meuse-Rhine region and is supported with European funds by the Interreg Meuse-Rhine (NL-BE-DE) programme.
COMET is being implemented within the framework of the Interreg VI-program Deutschland-Nederland and is co-financed with 2.759.369,59 euro by the European Union, the MWIKE NRW, the Niedersächsische Staatskanzlei, the Dutch Ministry of Economic Affairs and the provinces of Groningen, Fryslân, Drenthe, Flevoland, Overijssel, Gelderland, North Brabant and Limburg.
If you have any further questions about the STIPP initiative and the possibility of starting an innovation project, please contact Kartin Schleicher (katrin.schleicher@nmwp.de) or René Kessen (rene.kessen@liof.nl).
